KNITTED SHELF SYSTEM
Collaboration Project | 2016
Besides my regular projects during my semester at ENSCI, I did a collaboration project with one of my fellow students from the industrial design department, Linus van Doren. He created a modular shelf system, based on knitted textiles that were transformed into solid structures with the help of resin.
I designed the knit structures and helped him to choose the right materials for a stable structure. We worked with linen as it is one of the most stable materials for knitting. Thanks to the vertical lines, the knitting pattern provides for stability and, at the same time, bestows the final shelf with a light appearance.
